Abstract Expressionism! Grades 3/4

Grades 3 & 4 had fun last week painting like Jackson Pollock.  They used untraditional painting tools to make their paintings.  This was a great way to use up the dregs from the gallon paint containers!

Kindergarten Blotter Bugs, starring the Primary Colors!

Kindergarteners learn all about the primary colors and how they can mix two of them together to make a secondary color!  How magical is that?

12"x24" Non-Objective paintings.  Students emphasized 3 principles of design and 1 color palette for their painting.  In case you didn't know, the principles of design are: movement, contrast, balance, unity, rhythm, pattern, emphasis

Grades 1-2

First and second graders learned about artist Josef Albers.  Albers made painting of squares!  Albers found it exciting to see the effects of putting different colors of squares together.  Students learned that sometimes colors step away, pop out and even disappear!
